What's Inside

Rustic, but never rough

Mountain view · Wifi · Dedicated workspace · Free parking on premises

Private patio, fully-fenced private backyard, and an indoor wood-burning fireplace to keep you warm through Kyrgyz winters.

Yoga mats, binoculars, and a guitar are all here for you to borrow, and a free home-cooked breakfast is served at the guest house every morning. A sauna is also available at the guest house (not in the yurt) for a small extra fee.

We are often away travelling, so Cholpon looks after the yurt and takes care of guests while we are gone.

What To Do

Trek, ride, or simply do nothing

For the adventurous, embark on a roughly 4-hour trek to a stunning waterfall tucked away in the forest.

Craving more? Hop on a horseback ride and experience the landscape like never before — lush meadows, rugged red cliffs, and endless views of the Seven Bulls. If you would like to ride, please let us know when you book so we can find an available horse in the community.

Or stay close: stretch out on the yoga mats by the stream, meditate with the mountains in front of you, and let the sound of sheep and cow bells be the only noise all day.

Very special place, stunning view and a yurt with everything you need, extremely cosy. It was hard to leave that place, as it was so beautiful. Can recommend it to anyone who wants a comfortable stay in nature.

One of the nicest places I've ever stayed. So peaceful — this yurt sits next to the Seven Bulls rocks. The yurt has everything you need: a small kitchen, toilet with shower, loads of lighting options. Breakfast is included and served at the Guest House. Everyone is so friendly.

Literally the best place I've ever stayed. Wish we could have stayed there for months. So peaceful. So beautiful. Hosts were lovely and helpful and the yurt was just fantastic. Beautiful views of the 7 bulls with just the sound of the rushing river and sheep and cow bells. I have to go back!

What a beautiful and unique experience it was. It's indescribable in words; it felt so magical. We were very kindly received and helped with everything — friendly and so honest. I will definitely come back, and with more people.

We had a super cozy stay in this beautiful yurt and the communication with Reafil was really great. I loved all the details, the indirect light and the fireplace, and immediately felt at peace listening to the sounds around the yurt.

The yurt itself was immaculate — clean, cozy, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we could possibly need. But what truly set this experience apart was Reafil's extraordinary kindness. It's rare to encounter such genuine hospitality. We would return in a heartbeat.

An unforgettable experience that will stay with us forever. A beautiful yurt in the mountains, all alone in the forest — pure nature and country life. We were taken care of excellently and lovingly. I proposed to my girlfriend there under millions of stars, and was fantastically supported. By the way — she said yes!

We spent 10 days in the yurt in winter and experienced an unforgettable time. The location is indescribably beautiful, lonely and peaceful. The view of the mountain is a dream. Simply the perfect place to forget everyday life, find peace and relaxation.

Excellent yurt! We stayed in a few yurts in Kyrgyzstan, but this is a really luxurious one. When it rained the track from the hotel was tricky, but the hosts made sure we got there safe.

Perfect yurt in a beautiful area! The photos don't do it justice — the yurt is really well equipped, with lovely design and all the amenities you'd need (and not expect in a yurt!): electricity, a kitchen, a super strong heater and a hair dryer. We loved the bathroom, one of the best hot showers we had in Kyrgyzstan.

We enjoyed our stay a lot in the Yurt. Especially during winter times it's magical to be surrounded by snow. Our host prepared us the most authentically Kirgistan breakfast and told us a lot about the culture and traditions. The location of the yurt is perfect to relax and enjoy pure nature.

The Yurt is absolutely beautiful and surrounded by stunning nature. The location is secluded and private. The track up is only suitable for experienced drivers in winter, so come a little early — but despite the challenging start, we really enjoyed our stay in the surrounding beauty.

Location

Where the yurt is

The yurt sits in the forest beside the famous Seven Bulls (Jeti-Öguz) rock formation, in the Jeti-Öguz valley (also spelled Dzhety-Oguz) of the Issyk-Kul Region, Kyrgyzstan. If you're looking for a yurt in Kyrgyzstan that's close to nature but not hard to reach, the nearest town is Karakol, about 30 km away, on the south shore of Lake Issyk-Kul.

Here is the exact spot, tucked in the middle of the forest:

Our Story

How this yurt came to be

Clayton and I are a travelling couple. We came to Kyrgyzstan during the pandemic. The borders stayed open, and Kyrgyzstan was a green safe zone through the pandemic, one of the safest countries to stay for longer. So we stayed six months. We drove around parts of the country in a rented car, staying in different places along the way, and the beauty of Kyrgyzstan stunned me again and again. How could this country be so sweet? The nature here is untouched and magical, and that made the choice easy. We spent a lot of that time with the family at their guest house, and we had a fantastic connection with them from the first day. We lived there for weeks, and we volunteered at the school in the village. We gave supplies and a printer to the small school. We went horse riding. We went to the cave and walked out to the river.

We have so much love for the small community. We walked out to where the yurt is located. It was forest, and you could hear animals in the distance. The birds, the water stream, the horses, the sheep. I loved how we were far from the neighbourhood but still close to the community and the land. Close enough to nature to really feel it. A wide sky, where you feel small under millions of stars above us.

Standing there, we had a vision: living in a yurt, right on this spot. We wanted to live simply and traditionally, in the kind of shelter the nomads of Kyrgyzstan have used for generations, close to the way their ancestors lived. So Clayton and I decided to build one and stay a while. Who could have known we would end up building a yurt in the middle of a forest? The family helped us with everything we needed. We lived at the yurt for 2 months during winter. It was the best remote life we ever had. We never feel bored, and that is the best thing about this place. You get to be busy, but in a slowed-down life. Waking up to the beautiful snow outside, with the beautiful view of the Bull Rock.

We have so much love for this yurt. Clayton loves adding tiny special touches, his own way of expressing himself. We did yoga and meditated in front of the fireplace, feeling the warmth it gives our body. Connected, and alive.

Something of that winter stayed in the yurt. We hope you feel it too.
